Summary:
Concept Expression versus Meaning Expression
The following fact types in 11.2.2.2 and 11.2.2.3 relate to concepts:
concept is portrayed by description
concept is illustrated by descriptive example
concept is commented on in note
concept is supported by reference
All of these relationships should be generalized to relate to ‘meaning’ rather than to ‘concept’. As it is, SBVR does not support having a description, descriptive example, note or reference for a business rule because a business rule is another kind of meaning (a proposition rather than a concept).
Recommendation: replace the fact types above with these:
meaning is portrayed by description
meaning is illustrated by descriptive example
meaning is commented on in note
meaning is supported by reference
