Summary:
A direct comparison between entities within MODAF/ NAF and UPDM shows a number of distinct differences. The ones of major concern are:
· MODAF/ NAF contain environmental entities that can be used to qualify different parts of a MODAF/ NAF model. This has been found to be a necessity during the modelling field trials that have been performed in Sweden. UPDM has no such entities.
· The handling of the Enterprise entities in MODAF/ NAF gives a much clearer picture of the temporal aspects and can be used to subdivide the enterprise into constituent parts that can be handled separately. No such handling is contained within UPDM.
· MeasurableProperty handling as well as ontology references in MODAF/ NAF ensure that hard-coded enumerations and classes are not required. Hard-coded enumerations and classes are made use of within UPDM.
· The handling within MODAF/ NAF of external references and Ontology is also much clearer that external reference handling within UPDM. -
