Summary:
ยท Materiel is a very broadly defined entity that seems to relate to almost everything. At first glance the MODAF/ NAF equivalent would seem to be PhysicalAsset but given the concept of MaterielBehaviour this does not seem to be the case. First of all Materiel does not seem to need to be related to anything inside the OperationalViews and provided it is to be retained it should be confined to the SystemViews. The reason for this is twofold:
o The operational views deal with logical operations not with solutions and by introducing materiel solutions are being discussed something that should be done in the system views.
o In cases where entities in the operational views need to be made physical, something that happens when they do not belong to the trade-space as such, there is no need to go to a level of detail that needs materiel. MODAF/ NAF deals with a distinction between the two types of entities by stating by the use of a problem domain entity, a very useful concept.
The association entities therefore also seem questionable. -
