Summary:
The current C++ mapping does not offer efficient insertion or
extraction of data from CORBA::Any if static type information
(IDL-generated insertion and extraction operators) are not
available.I'm thinking of a dynamic DII gateway that needs to shovel large
amounts of data, such as a sequence<octet>. Presently, the gateway
must employ the DynAny type, and loop over the number of elements,
calling insert_octet() or get_octet() repeatedly. This is inefficient,
especially for large sequences/arrays of basic types.I think that a more efficient mechanism might be useful for some
applications. -
