Summary:
page 3-2 of the spec says (Section 3.1, para 3 and para 5):
OMG IDL obeys the same lexical rules as C++.
[ ... ]
The OMG IDL grammar is a subset of the proposed ANSI C++ standard...
Both paragraphs are simply wrong. IDL doesn't obey the same lexical rules
and it isn't a subset of C++. In addition, we now have the final ISO/IEC
C++ standard, so talking about the proposed or draft standard is out of date.I would suggest to systematically replace references to ANSI C++, the
"proposed" standard, or the "draft" standard with the proper ISO/IEC
reference. The verbage about IDL being a subset of C++ and obeying the same lexical
rules should be removed. It simply isn't true. -
