Summary:
Regarding using a version in a repository ID:
If old PIDL were to be recast to local, each time the
interface def would be enhanced (by adding new local
operations), the IDL module would have to be appropriately
versioned.I also point out that using a version for corba::object's repository
id seems inappropriate, since there are multiple version of
corba::object which the omg never bothered to version, since they
did not have to.Thus, in summary, putting version 1.0 to correspond to a pidl interface
implies stability in that inteface (i.e., it will not change without
changing
the version number), which the OMG has never enforced for PIDL. -
