Legacy Issue Number: 3768
-
Status: closed
-
Source: AT&T ( Duncan Grisby)
-
Summary:
Is the following IDL legal?
interface A
{ void B(); };
interface B : A {};Interface B has an inherited operation named B. Whether it is legal or
not depends on whether the inherited operation is considered "defined"
within interface B.This issue is subtly different from the discussions in issue 3525.
Operations and attributes are more strongly "introduced" into the
inherited interface than type declarations are, since inherited type
declarations can be overridden, but operations and attributes cannot.I think the IDL specification should be clarified to state whether the
above IDL is legal or not. -
