Update the metadata in the Document Components ontology to be added to Commons

  • Key: SBRM-9
  • Status: open
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall)
  • Summary:

The metadata in the Document Components ontology is also dated and should be updated for adding to the Commons Ontology Library (per Clause 0 of the SBRM revised submission - the task force assumes that this will be done and published in Commons 1.4).

  • Reported: Commons 1.3 — Sun, 1 Nov 2026 00:48 GMT
  • Updated: Sun, 1 Nov 2026 00:48 GMT

Revise ontology metadata to be current

  • Key: SBRM-2
  • Status: open
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall)
  • Summary:

Metadata for the existing ontologies documented in clause 8 is dated and should be revised to reflect the latest license and copyright approach, revised versionIRI for a formal release, and update affiliations, as well as add elements such as dcterms:modified to provide the modification date and other recommended annotations should be included.

This issue only affects the metadata for the relevant existing ontologies and no semantics.

Consider changing term "Fact Set" to "Block"

  • Key: SBRM-1
  • Status: open
  • Source: dfrnt.com ( Mr. Charles Hoffman)
  • Summary:

SBRM uses the notion of "Fact Set" to describe something that is more than simply a set of facts. I fixed this in my Seattle Method documentation, changing instead to the term "Block".

Clean up additional metadata in the report structure ontology

  • Key: SBRM-8
  • Status: open
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall)
  • Summary:

The report structure ontology contains two undocumented properties, both boolean data properties, and adds an unnecessary synonym to a class in an imported ontology. These things should be cleaned up prior to finalization.

This ontology is not documented in detail in the specification document as it is well aligned with the metamodel, but the machine readable file(s), in all serializations, should be corrected. The specification itself is not impacted, in other words.

Some of the ontologies for SBRM contain both OWL and SHACL

  • Key: SBRM-5
  • Status: open
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall)
  • Summary:

In order to support a range of tooling, the SHACL files should be split out from the OWL, which will result in additional namespaces.

References to MVF as a normative dependency are missing

  • Key: SBRM-4
  • Status: open
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall)
  • Summary:

The metamodel for SBRM leverages content from the Multiple Vocabulary Facility (MVF) specification, but there are no references to MVF in the body of the specification and it is missing from the normative references.

Document ontologies and SHACL files that are currently not documented in the specification

  • Key: SBRM-3
  • Status: open
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall)
  • Summary:

A number of ontologies were submitted with the revised submission but not documented. Although these ontologies are largely documented in the metamodel, some light documentation, including at a minimum, the descriptive metadata about each ontology and their namespace definitions is necessary.
