DESCRIPTION OF REQUESTED CHANGE
The common data definitions should be refactored to extract common metadata items that can be reused
in other CCSDS schemas. These common metadata items are:
A. Time formats
a. UTC Time format
b. Spacecraft clock (SCLK) time format
c. Earth receive time (ERT) format
d. GMT time format
e. Time Period format
B. Basic types
C. Algorithms
D. Units types
E. Coordinate formats
a. Cartesian formats for reference frame formats
b. J2000 + other celestial body formats
RID RESPONSE:
None of these specific time formats are part of XTCE now, but should be definable in an valid XTCE XML document.XTCE doesn't know anything about specific formats in CCSDS and was designed to be general enough to describe them (should it fail then that's a valid criticism for schema change). If it would be helpful, CCSDS could supply base XTCE documents for those specific format for missions that could be downloaded from the CCSDS web site.
