Summary:
Should we be point to IEEE 754 the well-known standard (754-1985 or 754-2008) or
the newer ISO/IEC/IEEE 60559:2011 (with identical content to IEEE 754).
I would imagine that getting our spec through the ISO process would be easier if we point to the ISO standards -

Disposition Summary:
The point about smoothing ISO acceptance is well taken. Text changed to reference the more recent standard
with a note that it is identical to IEEE 754 so that experienced readers will recognize that the transition make
no substantive change. -
