    Should we be point to IEEE 754 the well-known standard (754-1985 or 754-2008) or
    the newer ISO/IEC/IEEE 60559:2011 (with identical content to IEEE 754).
    I would imagine that getting our spec through the ISO process would be easier if we point to the ISO standards

    The point about smoothing ISO acceptance is well taken. Text changed to reference the more recent standard
    with a note that it is identical to IEEE 754 so that experienced readers will recognize that the transition make
    no substantive change.
