Summary:
StateMachine Redefinition Notation
As far as I remember, this is a new specification in UML 2.5. The semantics of redefining state machine is clear. I find it rather confusing is the notation. When you redefine a generalized state machine, you typically do not want to redraw the whole state machine. The proposed notation means that the whole state machine must be re-drawn with the added modeling elements. Also, this notation supports only the addition to the generalized state machine, but not the deletion or modification of the generalized state machine
