UML25 — What is inherited or not

  • Key: UML25-298
  • Legacy Issue Number: 17877
  • Status: closed
  • Source: Soluta.net ( Adriano Comai)
  • Summary:

current text: “When a Classifier is generalized, certain members of its generalizations are inherited, that is they behave as though they were defined in the inheriting Classifier itself.”.

[AC] This sentence suggests that some members are inherited, some are not. In the following sentence it is explained, as examples, that attributes and operations are inherited. But which are members that are NOT inherited? Are there examples, or, better, rules?

  • Reported: UML 2.4.1 — Wed, 26 Sep 2012 04:00 GMT
  • Disposition: Resolved — UML 2.5
  • Disposition Summary:

There is a later paragraph in the cited section that says:
The set of members that are inherited is called the inheritedMembers. Unless specified differently for a particular kind
of Classifier, the inheritedMembers are members that do not have private visibility.
    This is clear.
    Disposition: Closed - No Change
