Legacy Issue Number: 17588

Status: closed

Source: THALES ( Hugues Vincent)

Summary:
Title: Clarification on the aim of Collaborations
Where: section 11.7
Nature of Issue: Clarification
Severity of Issue: Minor
Full Description of the Issue:
"It (purpose of Collaborations) is intended as a means for capturing standard design patterns": could you please elaborate on this because this is not trivial. An example would also be welcomed. -
Reported: UML 2.4.1 — Thu, 13 Sep 2012 04:00 GMT

Disposition: Resolved — UML 2.5
-
Disposition Summary:
The Observer design pattern (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observer_pattern) is the first in the Examples
section, so there is already an example. But the quoted sentence may still be somewhat confusing, because
Collaborations can be used to describe other things than standard design patterns, and standard design patterns
can be described using other things than Collaborations (e.g. templates). Since it doesn’t add clarity,
let’s remove it. -
