Summary:
Internal block diagrams for associations. SysML currently cannot give the internal structure of an association class. For example, the association between engine and wheels has its own parts and connections between them, such as the clutch and differential. If an association class relating engine and wheels is stereotyped as a block currently, the clutch and differential parts can be specified, and the connections between them, but not the connections to the wheel and engine. This is because there are no standard properties on association classes that give the objects at end of the (instances of) the association. The Block model library should normatively define an association (instance of UML4SysML::AssociationClass) with standard names for properties that give the end objects. Since SysML resricts associations to have two ends, only two of these are needed.
