EAI — Inconsistent statements on the use of queued terminals

  • Key: EAI-61
  • Legacy Issue Number: 4881
  • Status: closed
  • Source: Model Driven Solutions ( Mr. Ed Seidewitz)
  • Summary:

Document: UML Profile and Interchange Models for EAI
    Section: 6.3.8 (EAIQueuedInputTerminal and EAIQueuedOutputTerminal)

    Description:
Section 6.3.8 states that "We represent the fact that an Operator uses queuing via the use of" queued terminals (emphasis added). Later, however, it is stated that "Queued input and output terminals may be used on any of the EAI constructs that have terminals", which is more expansive than the previous statement.

    Recommendation:
Since the concept of "operators" has not yet even been introduced in the linear sequence of the document at this point, it would be better if the initial statement was worded something like: "EAIQueuedInputTerminal and EAIQueuedOutputTerminal are subclasses of EAITerminal that are used to represent message communication that occurs via queuing."
