    Summary: I"d like to float the idea of adding a ping operation to CORBA::Object:

    module CORBA {
    interface Object

    { void ping(); // ... }

    ;
    // ...
    };

    The reason for suggesting this is that developers have a frequent need
    for this functionality. (How to determine object reachability (as opposed
    to object existence) is a FAQ).
