    Summary: In CORBA 2.2 added the ORB::shutdown operation. What operations are
    valid during the potentially lengthy shutdown process while ongoing
    operations complete? What is the validity of the ORB reference after the
    shutdown? Is the ORB destroyed? Can a new ORB be reconstituted by
    ORB_init?

    This issue came up during the port-rtf discussion for CORBA 2.3. It goes
    beyond considerations for the POA so it should be addressed by
    orb_revision.
