BPMN2 — Page 22, Section 7.2.1 - Associating Data Objects with process as a whole

Many workflow systems are designed around the concept that there is a process context that holds variables shared by all activities within that context. Since the swimming pool represents the process instance as a whole, there should be a way to associated process variables with the pool itself, which would be accessible by all activities within the pool.

The spec should clarify how a model can associate data objects with the process as a whole.

Processes define DataObjects, so the scope of DataObjects is the process they are defined. We are opening another issue to create a clarification of the behaviour of
simultaneous updates on DataObjects.
