Summary:
Many workflow systems are designed around the concept that there is a process context that holds variables shared by all activities within that context. Since the swimming pool represents the process instance as a whole, there should be a way to associated process variables with the pool itself, which would be accessible by all activities within the pool.
The spec should clarify how a model can associate data objects with the process as a whole.
