BACM11 — Reconsider ValueCharacteristic

  • Key: BACM11-16
  • Status: closed
  • Source: Thematix Partners LLC ( Mr. James Rhyne)
  • Summary:

The abstract syntax of this allows for value fit between value item and customer segment to be rolled up into an overall value fit between the value proposition and the customer, but it permits a lot of nonsense constructions as well. Consider splitting ValueCharacteristic into two parts: one between ValueProposition and Customer, and the other between ValueItem and CustomerSegment and have the latter owned by the former.

  • Disposition: Resolved — BACM 1.1b1
  • Disposition Summary:

Create ValueCharacteristic_1, move item and segment associations

Create ValueCharacteristic_1 as association stereotyped class (will appear as a class in MOF). Relocate item and segment associations from ValueCharacteristic to ValueCharacteristic_1. Create owns_4 association from ValueCharacteristic to ValueCharacteristic_1.

This splits the value characteristic concept into two syntactic parts: an overall part that characterizes the fit of the ValueProposition to the Customer; a detail part that characterizes each ValueItem of the ValueProposition to a curresponding CustomerSegment part of the Customer.
