Disposition Summary:
Future model-based specifications
There is substantial variation in the capabilities and features of existing ground and space systems. The increasing complexity of space-systems, as they transition to greater reliance on software, makes it difficult to reduce complexity and still span the variation in systems. Community of use-based limitations are emerging which simplify the application of XTCE, and these should result in new companion specifications. Eventually a new specification for software-based ground-space interfaces, based on other OMG software communication specifications, e.g. CORBA, DDS, IDL, will be required to satisfy more complex systems.
