Source: INCOSE ( Sanford Friedenthal)

Summary:
Issue: SysML synchronization with UML/XMI version updates Discussion: Since SysML was originally published, both UML and XMI specifications have been updated. It is important to maintain synchronization between SysML and these specifications since SysML leverages both of them. Proposed Resolution: Update Section 2 to reflect the current version of UML and XMI. An assessment of the changes to UML and XMI should be made, and a determination of the impact on the SysML specification. The SysML specification should be updated accordingly.

Disposition: Resolved — SysML 1.2
-
Disposition Summary:
Specific issues continue to be raised to address specific points of dependence of
SysML on UML. The SysML specification itself has replaced specific version
references to UML to simply "UML 2" so that references do not have to be
changed to reflect the dependencies on which any given version of SysML
depends, with the exception of material in Chapter 4, Language Architecture.
This generic issue should be replaced by more specific ones that raise known
issues in which future versions of SysML may need further revision to address
dependencies on UML.
