SMM11 — A RescaledMeasurement should not rescale more than one DimensionalMeasurement simultaneously

  • Key: SMM11-162
  • Legacy Issue Number: 19718
  • Status: closed
  • Source: VDMbee ( Mr. Henk de Man)
  • Summary:

Summary: Multiplicity of RescaledMeasurement.rescaleFrom is [0..*]. This is wrong. Because this would imply that it could rescale multiple DimensionalMeasurements simultaneously. It should be [0..1] therefore. This issue supersedes issue 17504. The reason is that issue 17504 suggested that the multiplicity of RescaledMeasure.rescaleFrom being [0..*] was also wrong and that it proposed to change it to [1] as well. That was wrong. Because the RescaledMeasure itself should be kept re-usable. But any application of it, i.e., a related RescaledMeasurement, should not rescale more than one DimensionalMeasurement.

Resolution: Change multiplicity of RescaledMeasurement.rescaleFrom from [0..*] to [0..1]. Note that this cannot be higher than 1 (for reasons explained in Summary). On the other hand, it should allow "0", to stay consistent with the semantics of the RescaledMeasurement.isBaseSupplied. Multiplicity of RescaledMeasure.rescaleFrom will also change, but from [0..*] to [1..*]. The “*” in this is to keep the possibility of reuse of a RescaledMeasure, and the “1” in this is to make it more consistent with other aggregating Measures, which all aggregate from [1] DimensionalMeasure (instead of [0..1]). This resolution supersedes the resolution of 17504.Â
