SBVR_ — Number Namespace

  • Key: SBVR_-35
  • Legacy Issue Number: 10568
  • Status: closed
  • Source: Google ( Don Baisley)
  • Summary:

SBVR provides the Integer Namespace having designations for all integers, but SBVR provides no standard means to represent all decimal numbers nor to represent common fractional numbers having Unicode symbols that are common in business expression. A Numbers Namespace is needed in order to support a common means of representing numbers occurring in the formulations of rules and definitions.

    Recommendation:

Change “Integer Namespace” to “Number Namespace”. Change its definition to this:

the vocabulary namespace that consists of the following designations for numbers:

    1. any sequence of one or more decimal numerals

    2. any sequence of zero or more decimal numerals followed by a decimal point and a sequence of one or more decimal numerals

    3. any sequence of zero or more decimal numerals followed by a Unicode vulgar fraction

    4. any of the above preceded by a minus sign (“-“)

    Example: 2, 25, 2.5, .5, ?, 33?, -10.00

Move the note under ‘integer’ to be under ‘number’ and make it refer to the Number Namespace.

Alternatively, is there any ISO standard namespace or other standard namespace that we can refer to using a URI for this purpose?
