IEFRA2 — Suggestion Sec 1.10.1

  • Key: IEFRA2-120
  • Status: open

  • Summary:

    "17.4 Suggestion
1.10.1 IEF Alignment with Data-Centric Security
Data-Centric Security (DCS) focuses on protecting data assets throughout their lifecycle rather than solely relying on traditional network or infrastructure-based security approaches. Unlike conventional cybersecurity models that primarily safeguard communications, networks, platforms, devices, and information systems, DCS enforces security policies directly at the data level, ensuring that data remains protected regardless of where it resides or how it is transmitted.
The Information Exchange Framework (IEF) and its Reference Architecture (IEF-RA) align with and build upon Western allied initiatives (e.g., NATO) that emphasize DCS-driven interoperability and data protection. By integrating policy-driven enforcement mechanisms, IEF-RA enhances secure data exchange, decision advantage, and compliance with evolving information-sharing frameworks.
As part of ongoing validation efforts, IEF-RA components have been implemented, tested, and evaluated at the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise (CWIX)—NATO’s largest event dedicated to testing information management (IM) and information technology (IT) solutions for interoperability, security, and operational effectiveness. These real-world evaluations help refine IEF-RA’s capabilities and ensure alignment with emerging security requirements.
To illustrate how IEF-RA aligns with DCS objectives, Table 1.10-1 provides a structured comparison of key DCS principles and their implementation within IEF-RA."
