"16.4 Suggestion
1.10 Adapting to Evolving ISS and DCS Trends
Since the release of IEF-RA v1.0 in 2019, the landscape of Information Sharing and Safeguarding (ISS) and Data-Centric Security (DCS) has evolved significantly. New security models, emerging technologies, and shifting operational requirements have influenced the way
organizations approach data protection, interoperability, and access control.
To remain relevant and effective, the IEF-RA must continuously adapt to these changes, ensuring that its principles, policies, and implementations align with evolving best practices, industry standards, and lessons learned from real-world deployments.
This version of the IEF-RA specification introduces enhancements and refinements based on:
● Feedback from stakeholders, implementers, and security practitioners,
● Findings from interoperability exercises and live operational testing,
● Advances in security models such as Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), Cloud Security Practices, and Secure Relationship Protocol (SRP),
● Lessons learned from the evolving Data-Centric Security (DCS) ecosystem, and
● The growing need for agility, adaptability, and automation in ISS and DCS
implementations.
The following subsections examine how IEF-RA aligns with these evolving security paradigms, highlighting its ability to support dynamic, policy-driven security enforcement while maintaining compliance with global security standards and mission-critical operational needs." -
