GEMS12 — There is no unambiguous way to tell if a value is a scalar or an array of one in the XML

    The GEMS-XML schema defines a default value for multiplicity (default of 1). The result is that parsers using the schema are unable to tell if a parameter is a scalar or an array of length one.
    Proposed Resolution: Recommend removing the default multiplicity in the xml schema and the spec should state 'no multiplicity == scalar'
