B1: SubmitOntology of Space and Time
While FIBO only concerns itself with the financial industry, it would be a great help if it referred to more generic ontologies where they were available and appropriate, otherwise there will be a large opportunity/danger of re-inventing the wheel. An example would be a time ontology such as OWL-Time. It really is necessary to define that start times come before end times. There is a need to define ëborderí, etc. These are examples of Things that should have definition in other ontologies, and it would help FIBO users if they were pointed to appropriate candidate ontologies. -

Disposition: Resolved — EDMC-FIBO/FND 1.0b2
-
Disposition Summary:
Adjust Annex B to cater for ontologies already in ODM
This issue is addressed via the mechanism discussed in Annex B, regarding handling of external ontologies. With respect to time in particular, the FIBO development team intends to use the OWL version of OMG's Date Time Vocabulary, which was published with the RTF report in June 2014.
However Annex B does not anticipate an external ontology already being in ODM as DTV is. -
