Summary:
The whole area is very complicated and not something that FIBO need concern itself with as a Financial ontology: for example different jurisdictions could treat the same Person as having different genders, and Facebook recognizes 50 values.

Disposition: Resolved — EDMC-FIBO/FND 1.0b2
-
Disposition Summary:
FIBO should not have a list of values for Gender
The People ontology includes a datatype defining values for gender that are insufficient in terms of their conceptual semantics as well as for many applications.
The FIBO FTF team agrees that this datatype should be removed and the range of the property that uses it should simply be "text".
