Summary:
Many fields in the C2MS Header (which have of necessity also been put in the C2MS Envelope) should be evaluated for change or removal in the next major release. Change to be made in both C2MS Message and C2MS Envelope. Examples:
- ROLE should be renamed COMPONENT-ROLE to avoid confusion with user role (authorization).
- USER-NAME should be removed. This seems to be only debug info and does not have anything to do with authentication/authorization. The new fields SENDER-IDENTITY and SENDER-ACCESS in the envelope provide that.
- FACILITY/NODE/PROCESS-ID/CONNECTION-ID are candidates for removal. These seem only valuable for debugging. Debug info doesn't belong in a standard, IMO.
- CONNECTION-ID should be removed. This is definitely only valuable for debugging.
- MW-INFO - no idea why this is there. Probably need a use case or example of what this is used for, but it doesn't seem to belong.
